Proper Aftercare of your new tattoo
*Leave bandage on for at least one hour. A little longer is Okay, but one hour minimum.
*If bandage is stuck, soak with clean cool water until loosened, then carefully remove bandage.
*When washing your tattoo, DO NOT USE A WASHCLOTH, SPONGE, OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN YOUR HAND!!
*Use a MILD soap (Dove, Ivory, original dial), water and your hand. (Try not to use antibacterial soaps as they kill good bacteria as well as bad and the good bacteria heals the tattoo.)
*Rinse all soap residue away and pat the tattoo dry using a clean, dry towel or paper towel.
*Allow at least ten minutes after drying the tattoo before applying a very thin layer of A&D ointment, Bacitracin or Aquaphor.
**NO DIRECT SUNLIGHT OR TANNING until the tattoo is COMPLETELY healed.
**NO SWIMMING or soaking the tattoo in any type of water for at least three weeks.
**DO NOT use Vaseline!!!
**DO NOT pick at tattoo. If a scab forms, allow to naturally fall off.
*When tattoo gets itchy, (and it will) DO NOT scratch at it.
Simply SLAP it.
(The sting will take the itch away and will not harm the tattoo).
If your new tattoo will be covered or rubbed by clothing, or shoes
apply ointment and cover with a bandage as a buffer.
Proper aftercare will ensure that your tattoo will heal the best that it can.
The most important part of a tattoos appearance and longevity is how it is cared for during the healing process.
